Growing up, I played sports regularly, and even as an adult, I stayed active by being competitive. When I tried yoga for the first time, I wasn't ready for it. It moved too slowly, and I had WAY TOO MUCH TIME to think. It made me look at myself in a way that I just wasn't prepared to do.
These days, I see yoga as a way to check in. A community to not only be supportive in a class, but to help me be accountable in all aspects of my life. It's great to exercise and rock out to some good tunes, but it was when I allowed myself to go beyond the physical that my yoga practice began to flourish.
I became a teacher in 2013 and it has been a new challenge. It has been humbling and an honor to have the ability to lead classes. There are still things that I'm working on in my life, but trying to remember that it's about the progress and not perfection. Let's have some fun while trying to grow together.
