My introduction to yoga came when I was trying to find something to do with my oldest daughter. She had looked up a yoga class inside a dance studio and we decided to give it a try. Besides bonding with her I didn’t feel like I was really getting anything out of it because this class was entirely based on posing.

Fast forward five years later, my second daughter wanted to do an activity with me. She again chose yoga…..!!!! I went with her as a means to bond but AGAIN I didn’t get anything out of it. Fast forward two years later, my THIRD daughter wanted to participate in an activity with me… she looked up a yoga class. This time the teacher happened to be Caren Paskel. This class was different than my previous experiences. I was attempting to help my daughter with a pose when Caren instructed me to allow my daughter to have her own experience. It was like a light bulb turned on. I was so busy trying to bond with each daughter that not only was I not allowing them to experience this gift for themselves I wasn’t either. I was totally focusing on being there with them, that I wasn’t even really there. I was going through the motions.

This began my quest to know more, to learn and to grow. I enrolled the very next year (2018) in Life and Teacher Training. I’m still growing, learning, enjoying the experience and now teaching!

We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.
